I came home from Five on the 23rd and found this whole batch of cicadas near my front-yard lamp |
They're all just hanging out! |
Then I noticed this thing and got a picture of it too. I've since realized it's a cicada nymph |
They're all over my sisters car |
The nymph is so ugly. I should have followed it and watched it hatch |
There were a bunch in the back yard too, but out of like 10 pictures, this is the best one I got. Pretty pathetic... |
Whoa! Making out! |
This is the end of the ones that morning |
Map of hidden pond park |
I can't tell what's up with this one. I think it's a boy |
Boys are supposed to have fat bottoms that look like the capitol building |
This pond is so gross |
A ninja turtle! |
Another turtle swimming around |
Geese hanging out in the shallow end of the pond |
They're all sitting there cleaning themselves off... |
What do they expect? They're sitting in filthy dirty water! |
I went up this path, but didn't find anything interesting |
These little bridges are cute. Maybe I can live under one some day |
All sorts of up-rooted trees |
Oooh, little stream! |
Bah, another stream |
I think this one is a girl |
Not many cicadas, but their nymph shells are all over the place |
Strange how they reflect the flash so much |
Makes them all shiny |
Here's without flash |
There's holes all over the ground where they crawled out |
This one is upside down making its dumb noise. I bet he's so dumb he doesn't know he's upside-down |
Trees hanging out over the creek |
More holes all over the ground |
Scum and stuff—gross! |
Flash |
No flash |
Night-mode |
Rocks! |
I found a couple on this tree |
But there's still way more shells than cicadas |
Ants! |
Holy crap! |
I was like "Tell me where your friends are or die! " |
I found this nice natural path |
With this gross puddle filled with little bugs |
This ant's just walking around on the water... What does he expect to find on the water!? I hope he drowns |
There're little tadpole things all in the water. I don't know if they're bugs or tad-poles |
Then I walked up the paved path for a long time and came out in some neighborhood that was nowhere near my car. And walked down that, found there was no path back into the park, and had to walk through the forest. Then it started raining. Then I had to cross the creek in a rocky area - but I'm skilled like a ninja and didn't get my feet wet. Then I walked around in the rain for a long time and found my way back to my car... Dumb rain.
